DCPS uses three broad indicators to evaluate the quality of Cornerstones learning experiences. The Cornerstones Quality Indicators rubric provides more details about each broad indicator. The Vision for Tasks Workbook guides groups in honing their own vision for quality learning experiences.

Impact

Beyond “why am I learning this?” As students learn content, they are also learning the culture and practices of people who use that content outside the classroom, and are empowered to participate in their work and play.

Depth

In a deep learning experience, students go through cycles of producing work and having that work challenged - by new information, additional perspectives, and the evidence-based arguments of other students.

Sophistication

In a sophisticated learning experience, student work products are defined such that the more the student learns and understands, the better the product becomes. The experience scaffolds students’ masterful use of content to accomplish a purpose.
